Cookie Policy
About cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored by your web browser (eg Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox). They are placed on your computer’s hard drive or mobile phone. The website of FATE uses cookies so that our site can recognise who you are and make your browsing experience more enjoyable. Cookies on our website do not store personal or sensitive information such as name, address, email or payment details
Different types of cookies
There are two different types of cookies – ‘session’ cookies and ‘persistent’ cookies. The FATE website, like many websites, uses both. Session cookies are temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies have a longer expiration date and stay on your computer hard-drive until you manually delete them – usually when you delete your search history.
Persistent cookies
One example of a persistent cookie is the ‘remember me on this computer’ function which means you can access the private area of a website again from your own PC or mobile, without logging-in again. Session cookies and persistent cookies which may be placed on our website by us are known for this reason are ‘first party cookies.’
Third party cookies
‘Third party cookies’ are used by analytics companies such as Google to gather information about you. This isn’t the kind of personal information we retain under our Privacy Policy. It’s more to do with the habits you display and the websites you browse.
Here’s a list of the main types of cookies usde, and what we use them for.
- Finding us – How you found our website (search terms) and which website, if any you came from. This helps us understand which methods of promotion and keywords are the most effective.
- We use cookies to ensure your safety on the website and prevent other people from accessing your information.
- We have cookies which tell us if you are new to the website or have visited us before, so that we can see how many new visits to the website we have. This gives us an idea of how many members vs new contacts we have interested in Friends at the End.
