Friends at the End Welcome BMJ Statement

“Friends at the End welcome this statement of support from the British Medical Journal. They have highlighted an issue that our organisation has long argued – the British Medical Association and other medical bodies must be neutral in their stance on assisted dying in order to fairly represent the view of those British doctors in favour of legalisation.

If the BMA continues to oppose assisted dying, their influence within the wider public debate on this issue will be limited. As recent polling figures affirm that 82% of British patients are in support of legalising assisted dying, the BMA not only fails to represent supportive British doctors but also a significant number of their patients.”
