Liam McArthur gives evidence to Health Committee

“The status quo has consequences.”

Speaking before the Scottish Parliament’s Health Committee yesterday, Liam McArthur explained why a change in the law on #AssistedDying is desperately needed to give terminally ill people in Scotland compassion and choice at the end of life.

This week’s session marked the end of the Committee’s oral evidence hearings on the Assisted Dying For Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill, where it has heard from a range of stakeholders on how legal assisted dying might be implemented in Scotland and it potential impacts. The Committee will now work on its report on Mr McArthur’s bill, ahead of a Stage 1 debate on the bill in the Scottish Parliament, which is currently expected to take place in late spring or early summer.
